Hi - I'm Megan Goldberg (she/her), a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) under the supervision of Deardre McGuire, LICSW. Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me!
SPECIALTIES
My clients are individuals and couples in DC who have a variety of mental health concerns. Below are a few of my specialties. You can scroll down to learn more about me or check out my Psychology Today profile.
01
Anxiety
Anxiety often includes persistent worries, fears, avoidance, procrastination, and physical symptoms can negatively impact you and your relationships, career or academics, socializing, and more. Practicing identifying and using your strengths to build stronger coping skills can help manage anxiety's daily interference with life.
02
ADHD
ADHD symptoms like difficulties with attention, listening, interrupting, impulsivity, follow through, disorganization, avoidance, forgetfulness, fidgeting, and being always on the go can be really frustrating. They can impact you, your ability to accomplish your goals, and those around you. There are tools and techniques that can help you take control.
Relationship Counseling
03
Relationships are awesome but they require some effort to maintain! Couples are challenged with healing past wounds, effective communication styles, and forming healthier habits. This can take a toll on you, your partners, and your relationship satisfaction. Having in-depth sessions on communication, trust, intimacy, finances, family, kids, ways to connect and have fun, growth, and aspirations can bring partners closer together.
04
Substance Use
Learn about using harm reduction to develop goals and make incremental adjustments to substance use while working through underlying mental health issues and other challenges that may be contributing to substance use.
Other areas of my practice include academic issues, anger management, behavioral issues, body image, career counseling, coping skills, divorce, grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, life transitions, mood disorders, pre-marital counseling, PTSD, relationship issues or alternative relationship structures (like ethnical non-monogamy and polyamory), self-esteem, stress, and trauma.
ABOUT ME
Hey there! My name is Megan (she/her) and I'm a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in Washington, DC. My passion is helping clients manage their mental health in a way that isn’t intimidating. While therapy can be difficult, my clients and I approach it at their pace and with thoughtfulness, positivity, and maybe even a little bit of humor. I hold a safe space for my clients to process life's challenges as I walk next to them so they know they aren't alone. My clients find their resilience and strength while building a balanced lifestyle, self-awareness, and personal growth.
Diversity in culture, race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity or expression, age, physical or mental disabilities, immigration status, national origin, relationship status, social class, and religious and spiritual beliefs is important to me. No matter their background, I welcome all my clients to embark on their mental health journey with me.
Ellie in Rock Creek Park
Outside of sessions, my work/life balance and self-care routine includes hobbies, adventures, my friends and family, and my dog, Ellie. I love to crochet, read, go for a hike or on a camping trip, take Ellie for a swim nearby, and snowboard when I can.
